This spinner unit was the first heated by DOWTHERM, a glycol-based heat transfer fluid. The control panel on the right was used to regulate the temperature and speed of the machine, as nylon chips were melted and then exposed to pure nitrogen gas under pressure in order to produce nylon filament.
