<dc:description>R. B. Woodward gave this lecture in 1979 at the dedication of the Dedication of Samuel McElvain Laboratory at University of Wisconsin-Madison. Woodward presented his work on erythromycin, an antibiotic he was still trying to synthesize at the time of his death later in the same year. Note that the image and sound are lost for a few seconds around 50:54, likely due to the age and condition of the video tape.</dc:description>
