Portrait of Albert Edward Marshall (b. 1883). A native of Liverpool, England, Marshall studied at the Liverpool Institute (1898-1900) and Liverpool University College (1900-01). In 1902, Marshall joined the United Alkali Co. as a chemist and later worked as a chemical engineer for Thermal Syndicate, specializing in the construction of plant for the heavy chemical trade.
