Phoebe Waterman Haas (1882–1967) thanks Stanton C. Kelton for inviting her to the Army–Navy ‘E’ Award ceremony. The Army–Navy "E" Award was given to companies whose production facilities achieved "Excellence in Production" of war materials. The award was scheduled to be presented to the employees of the Rohm and Haas Company on January 29, 1943.

Phoebe Waterman Haas, wife of Otto Haas (1872-1960), was one of the first American women to earn a doctorate in astronomy in 1913.
