Liebe Friedel!
Deine Marianne Homburger

Dear Friedel,
Although I don't know you, I would like to address you with the familiar form of “you” (“Du”) because your dear mother and sister have welcomed me into their social circle and family. Hence, I also hope that we can be close.
Since Viktor is away and I am without any advice or help, I am contacting you and your dear husband today with immense concern for the future of the children. I would be very grateful if you, as a relative and close friend of the children's mother, would now consider the welfare of Walter (14 ¾ years old), Wolfgang (12 years old), and (Peter 10 ½ years old). Could you let me know what can be done for them to facilitate their way to the U.S.A?
I request that you not make we wait too long for a response. Warm regards to you and your loved ones.
