Friedrich Adolf Richter (1846-1910) was a German businessman and founder of F. Ad. Richter & Cie, a producer of pharmaceuticals, music boxes, gramophones, and Anchor Stone building sets for children. Richter falsely claimed to have earned an M.D. from the "University of Philadelphia." Richter’s advertising promised pain relief from rheumatism, gout, neuralgia, colds, and more. According to the label, the concoction contains 49% alcohol, capsicum, ammonia, camphor, soap, and essential oils.
