Framed print of Robert Bunsen (1811-1899) owned by Georg Bredig (1868-1944).

Bunsen, a German chemist, developed several techniques used for separating, identifying, and measuring chemical substances and is credited with the invention of the Bunsen burner. He and Gustav Kirchhoff (1824-1887) invented the spectroscope and discovered the elements cesium and rubidium. Bunsen was briefly a professor at the University of Breslau between 1851-1852.
