Lieber Max Albert!

Dear Max Albert,
In the near future, it is possible that I will lose my primary assistant, who plans to work in industry. Would you accept this position? I need a good employee, who is trained in physical chemistry. I could pay approximately 300 Marks per month.
Best regards,
P Askenasy

Dear Professor,
Unfortunately, I am just now getting around to answering your kind letter. As you will have heard from my parents by now, I hope to receive a grant soon from the Rockefeller Foundation to work in San Francisco. Until this is decided, which will not happen until January, I cannot accept a position here in Germany. Thank you very much for thinking of me.
