This instrument was developed for the Environmental Protection Agency in 1975 by Beckman Instruments' Advanced Technology Operations. This portable instrument uses a charcoal trap to detect vinyl chloride (a carcinogen) in the ambient atmosphere. The instrument includes a Beckman Model 6700 Gas Chromatograph and a Model 950 Chemiluminescence Analyzer.
