Lieber Herr Kollege und Vetter,
Herzlichen Dank für die freundliche Übersendung Deiner Übersetzung, deren Besitz mir viel Freude macht. Ich habe bisher erst ein bischen in dem Buch herumgeblättert und finde, dass es sich doch ziemlich, jedenfalls, zu seinem Vorteil verändert hat. Wenn ich mich von der Güte eines Buches schnell überzeugen will, sehe ich im Autorenregister nach, wieoft ich genannt bin. Danach wäre das Buch dann als gerade kaum noch schwach genügend – Du erinnerst Dich dieser Bezeichnung noch aus Deinem Schultagen – zu bezeichnen! Und dazu vermute ich noch, dass auch diese eine Erwähnung auf Grund persönlich guter Beziehung zum Übersetzer hereingkommen ist. Also der Übersetzer ist jedenfalls tadellos. Eine noch eingehendere und noch sachlichere Würdigung Deiner Arbeit behalte ich mir vor. Jedenfalls nochmals herzlichen Dank und viele Grüsse von Frau, Frl. Thank you very much for kindly sending your translation, which pleases me. Thus far, I've only skimmed through the book and think that it has changed quite a bit, but rather advantageously. If I want to quickly convince myself of the quality of a book, I check the authors' register to see how often I am mentioned. As you likely remember from your school days, the book could then be characterized as somewhat adequate. Moreover, I also suspect that this recognition arose because of the author’s good personal relationship with the translator. In any case, the translator is impeccable. I intend to provide an even more detailed and objective evaluation of your work. In any case, many thanks again and best regards from my wife, daughter and me to you, your dear parents, and Marianne.
