Sehr verehrter lieber Freund:

Nehmen Sie herzlichen Dank für Ihren Glückwünsch zum 50. Geburtstag. Ihr Brief weckte viele alte Erinnerungen an Heidelberg & Karlsruhe. Leider kommen Sie fast gar nicht mehr nach Heidelberg & ich muss gar nicht mehr nach Karlsruhe. Wir sind beide stiller und unbeweglicher geworden. Aber die freundschaftlichen Gesinnungen sind die gleichen geblieben.

Meine Frau und ich haben in den Salzburger Alpen Ruhe und Erholung gemacht und genossen. Von Mitte April an gedenken wir wieder in Heidelberg zu sein & im Sommer nach Oslo zu gehen.

Enroute to Heidelberg

Dear Friend,

Thank you very much for your well-wishes on the occasion of my 50th birthday. Your letter brought back many old memories of Heidelberg and Karlsruhe. Unfortunately, you hardly ever come to Heidelberg anymore and I don't have to go to Karlsruhe anymore. We've both become quieter and less mobile. Nonetheless, our friendship endures.

My wife and I enjoyed a relaxing vacation in the Salzburg Alps. We plan to return to Heidelberg in mid-April and visit Oslo this summer.
