Kunzite (LiAlSi₂O₆) is one of the most well-known varieties of spodumene, a lithium aluminum silicate. Its coloring can range in hues of violet and pink, due to trace amounts of manganese. The coloring of the gemstone can fade over time if exposed to light.

Spodumene minerals, which include kunzite, are an industrial source of lithium, used to manufacture medicines, ceramics, mobile phones, and automotive batteries.
