Letter from Phoebe Waterman Haas (1882-1967) to her future husband, Otto Haas (1872-1960), cofounder of Rohm and Haas.

Phoebe Haas was one of the first American women to earn her doctorate in astronomy in 1913. After graduating, she was appointed as an assistant to the Argentine National Observatory in Córdoba, Argentina.
