Lieber Max,
Fuer Deinen Vater muesste m.E. Whitney (Director of Research, Gen.
Herzliche Gruesse,
Dein Erich

Dear Max,
I have just received a postcard from Durham describing your interest in affidavits. Unfortunately, I cannot advise you or help much. For your father, I think Mr. E. Whitney (Director of Research, Gen. Electrical Co. Schenectedy, N.Y.) could help. He is also an Aryan and has certainly not issued any affidavits yet. I would also write to Berl, if you have not already done so. He is very caring. We can no longer remain proud. The only thing that matters is to get as many people as possible out of Germany in time. You have surely discussed this with Fajans anyway. Doesn't he have any advice?
If the Homburgers still have enough money, it might be interesting to know that with a valid passport you can immigrate to Cuba without complications. A deposit of $500 per person is necessary upon arrival there. From there, immigration to the United States is probably more pleasant and easier to facilitate than from over there. With regards to your father, people over 60 still need a special permit (which in my opinion will probably amount to a bribe there.) I heard this information a few days ago at the local Cuban consulate. Thus, it should still be valid.
Otherwise, I have nothing to add to my letter from 2 days ago. Professionally, the situation looks more hopeful. There seem to be good prospects out here, which justifies staying here longer. This is great for me Liesel! Hopefully there will be more news about this soon.
Write again soon. I wish you all the best over there and with your professional situation!
Best regards,
Erich
