Sehr verehrter Herr Kollege!
Hiermit spreche ich Ihnen noch meinen herzlichsten Dank aus, dass Sie mir heute Ihre kurz bewiesene Zeit für eine Unterredung wegen meines Sohnen [Adr: Dr. Max A. Bredig, Ann Arbor (Mich.) 1517 Montclair str.) gewährt haben. Besonders dankbar wäre ich Ihnen, wenn sie schon bald in diesen Tagen die Down Chem. Co. Brieflich auf das bereits von meinem Sohnes dort eingereichte Gesuch um Anstellung aufmerksam machen könnten, falls es Ihnen nicht zuviel Mühe macht. Ich fürchte nämlich, dass es nach Ihrer Heimkehr nach Ann Arbor vielleicht schon zu spät sein kann.
Ich erlaube mir noch darauf hinzuweisen, dass mein Sohn ja schon mehrjährige grosse Praxis im Centrallaboratorium eines sehr grossen industriellen Werkes, besonders als Leiter der Röntgenabteilung, gehabt hat. Dank seiner guten und vielseitigen Ausbildung kann er sich sehr rasch in jedes Gebiet der Chemie und physikalischen Chemie einarbeiten, wie er schon bewiesen hat. Herr Prof. Tomassen in Ann Arbor, in dessen Laboratorium er jetzt über Metallegierungen arbeitet, wird gewiss gern Auskunft über die Qualitäten und Person meines Sohnes geben.

Dear Colleague,
I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to you for allotting me time today to discuss my son (Address: Dr. Max Bredig, Ann Arbor, Michigan, 1517 Montclair Street). If it is not too much trouble for you, I would be especially grateful if you could send a letter to the Dow Chemical Company in the next few days regarding my son’s employment application. However, by the time you return to Ann Arbor, I’m afraid it may be too late.
I would like to point out that my son has already had many years of practical experience in the central laboratory of a very large industrial plant, especially as the head of the X-ray division. On account of his good and varied training, he can quickly familiarize himself with any area of chemistry and physical chemistry, as he has already demonstrated. Professor Tomassen in Ann Arbor, in whose laboratory he is now working in on metal alloys, will certain be glad to provide information on my son’s character and qualities.
