This pamphlet explains the benefits of the School-Lunch program and how to start it in the community.
The school lunch program was overseen by the War Food Administration, which was created in 1942 to manage the production and distribution of food to civilians during World War II. The school lunch program was created after almost a quarter of men were turned away from serving in the military due to malnutrition. This inspired the advancement of nutritional research and education for the American people. In 1946 the United States passed the National School Lunch Act which provides free or low-cost lunches to qualifying students.
