Advertisement for Dowflake Calcium Chloride, a product of the Dow Chemical Company, with view of a tree-lined residential street and unpaved road. Patented on February 17, 1925, Dowflake was marketed for use to control dust on unpaved roads and parking lots, as well as a roadway deicer. This advertisement appeared on page 71 of the May 29, 1926 edition of The Literary Digest .
