Letter from Max Bredig to Friedel G. Halstead, November 25, 1938
- 1938-Nov-25
Max Albert Bredig (1902-1977) thanks Friedel G. Halstead for helping him track down people who could write affidavits for his brother-in-law, Viktor Homburger (1888-1968). Bredig asks to know more about the relationship between the contacts and Viktor, as well as specifics about writing the affidavit.

Sehr verehrte gnädige Frau! (Halstead)
(M.A. Bredig)
PS.

Dear Madam, (Halstead)
I would like to thank you very much for your telegram and your successful efforts to trace Viktor's contacts in New York. You have certainly also received my letter from December 22nd. Before I can contact the two gentlemen mentioned in your telegram, I believe I should know a little more about the nature of their relationship with Viktor. If it is not possible to contact the two gentlemen to request affidavits, which I would of course understand considering your many other demands, please share more information about them through special delivery air mail letter as soon as possible. I can then see how to best approach them.
I am anxiously waiting for the first letter from Germany, which will hopefully arrive here tomorrow by ship (on the “Normandy”).
Thank you again for your efforts.
Yours sincerely,
(M.A. Bredig)
P.S. Do you know Viktor’s exact date and place of birth? How long was he in the U.S.A at the time? How long has he known Mr. Boschwitz? How long has he known Mr. Merzbach? Or does he not know the latter person at all? Was he still in written contact with these gentlemen? Do I have to write to them in English or German?
