Sehr geehrter Herr Professor,
da ich Sie mehrmals verfehlte, gestatte ich mir, Ihnen schriftlich mitzuteilen, dass ich auf eine Woche nach Karlsbad und Wien verreisen muss; ersteres in der Mannheimer Angelegenheit, von der ich Ihnen berichtet habe, letzteres um meine Angehörigen zu sehen. Am 28. Sept., wenn nicht früher, bin ich wieder hier.
Ich habe mir gestattet, Ihnen eine Übersicht über die Nutzanwendungen der röntgenographischen Methodik zu übersenden, in der ich mit Rotstift diejenigen Punkte angemerkt habe, dessen Bearbeitung

ich in Aussicht nehmen möchte. Ich gestatte mir gleichzeitig, daran zu erinnern, dass ich im Juli d.J. eine Übersicht über die Experimentalarbeiten, die ich mit Studierenden in Angriff nehmen möchte, in Ihre Hände legte. Sie betrafen:
1) Untersuchung über Oxyde des Mangans (Dipl. Arbeit, teilweise röntgenographisch)
2) Untersuchung der ellyt. Verchromungsmethoden (Dipl. Arbeit)
3) Röntgenographische Strukturermittlungen (Diss.)
4) Untersuchungen über Diffusion in festen Stoffen, insbesondere von Metalloiden im Eisen (Tempern, Einsatzhärten), (Diss.)

Dear Professor,
Since I missed you several times, I would like to inform you that I must travel to Carlsbad and Vienna for one week. The first trip has to do with the Mannheim affair, which I told you about, while the latter trip is to visit my relatives. I’ll return on September 28th, if not sooner.
I have taken the liberty of sending you an overview of the useful applications of the X-ray method, in which I have noted in red pencil those points which I would like to consider working on.

At the same time, I would like to remind you that in July of this year, I gave you an overview of the experimental work that I would like to undertake with students. They include:
1) An Examination of Manganese Oxides (diploma thesis, partly X-ray based)
2) An Examination of Chrome Plating Methods (diploma thesis)
3) An Examination of the Structure of X-rays (Dissertation)
4) Studies on Diffusion in Solid Materials, especially of Metalloids in Iron (annealing, case hardening), (Dissertation)
