Sehr geehrter Herr Dr. Strauss:
Fr.

Dear Dr. Straus:
Mrs. I. Hayn has informed me that you are prepared to write a letter or recommendation to the American Consul in Madrid, Spain for our mutual acquaintance, Dr. FRITZ HOCHWALD, who currently resides at: Pension San Remo, Principe 18, Madrid, Spain.
I was informed that the Consul would like information from the United State that Hochwald is also known there, had business relationships, and that he is a highly regarded scientist, etc.
In my own letter of recommendation, I wrote that I have known H. for a long time as the patent processor for the Bavarian Nitrogen Works in Berlin, a large German chemical corporation. I said that H. gained firsthand knowledge of important industrial processes that would make him valuable for American industry. I also mentioned that he is a person of upmost integrity who without a doubt, to the best of your knowledge, has never been politically active. Perhaps you can also write that you know that he also worked in Berlin for the American Cyanamid Co., which had a business relationship with the Bavarian Nitrogen Works.
For your information, I am also enclosing some documents that I received regarding this matter a long time ago. I remain at your disposal anytime for further information.
Since Dr. H. has purchased a fare on a ship departing at the beginning of June, it is a very urgent matter. If your letter could still be sent with the ship that leaves here on Saturday morning, that would be extremely welcome.
Best wishes.
Sincerely,
Max Bredig
PS: It would be best to send a copy of the letter to the consul directly and another copy to Hochwald, both by ship.
