Mein liebes gutes Vaterle!
Deinen lieben Brief vom 5. Aug. habe ich gestern erhalten. Vielen Dank. Auch Deine Briefe vom 13. u. 20. u. Maxs Karte vom 30. Juli kamen an. Hoffentl. hast Du inzwischen meinen Brief Nr. 47 vom 17. Juli u.
Innigst in Liebe
Eure Marianne.

[Georg Bredig’s hand: arrived on 4 September]
Dear Father,
I received your lovely letter from August 5th yesterday. Thank you very much. Your letters from the 13th and 20th and Max’s postcard from July 30th also arrived. In the meantime, I hope you have also received my letter, Number 47 from July 17th, and my postcard, Number 48. When the immense heat subsides where you are, you will regain more energy to do things. You have always suffered when it’s hot and it’s much worse over there with the humidity. The pleasant Indian summer will soon arrive. It is storming here like in the autumn and it’s quite cool. We don’t have any news except that we are doing well, always busy, and remain in good spirits. We don’t understand why you hear from Uncle Albert but never from the children. Do you still receive the Frankfurter Zeitung? If not, since when? Are you sleeping better than when you were here? How is your stomach? Do you have your main meal in the afternoon or evening? I’m especially thinking about you all these days.
Love,
Marianne
