We received a letter from the HOLLAND AMERICA Line, New York, the contents of which we are providing for you in translation below. The content of this letter is not only applicable for shipments with the aforementioned line but also all shipments of household goods from Europe, irrespective of the harbor from which the shipments were sent.
“concerning LIFTVANS and crates containing household goods and personal effects”
We would like to inform you that that we just received notification from our Rotterdam office that the British government will no longer permit these shipments to be sent unless they include, in addition to the NAVYCERT, a content list in triplicate. A confirmation in triplicate from a local Jewish refugee agency must also be included stating that the applicant is exempt because they are a Jewish refugee.
If your application is already en route to Rotterdam without this certification from a refugee agency, we would advise you to submit this certification immediately in triplicate. After receiving all the certifications, we will address the matter with the appropriate agency in Amsterdam. This agency is tasked with handling these affairs.
Please consider this letter as a communication from our company. To pursue this matter further, we would advise you to contact us.
Sincerely,
H.G. OLLENDORFF
