Print advertisement for Dowflake depicts a couple driving an automobile waving to a passerby with a cloud of dust emanating from the dirt road. A hand-painted sign on the back of their automobile reads "Excuze [excuse] our Duzt [dust]." A paragraph below the illustration warns readers of the dangers of dust produced by motorists. Patented on February 17, 1925, Dowflake was marketed for use to control dust on unpaved roads and parking lots, as well as a roadway deicer. This advertisement appeared on page 60 of Time magazine dated May 16, 1938.
