Willis Tracy Hanson, Sr. (1858-1933) was a New York businessman known for selling patent medicines. These remedies could be purchased without a prescription prior to the quality regulations imposed by the Food and Drug Administration and the Federal Trade Commission. In the late 1800s, Hanson acquired the sole distribution rights of "Pink Pills for Pale People", a popular fatigue remedy of the period. This led him to establish three companies: the W.T. Hanson Company, the Hanson-Fulford Company, and Dr. Williams’ Medicine Company.
